Family photography in Bristol can involve all sorts of different kinds of pictures. Quite apart from the many settings, poses and ages concerned, the structures and numbers can vary a lot too.
Twins are one example of a fairly unusual situation that owes itself to some wonderful photos, but usually when one thinks of them the notion is that they are identical twins. However, fraternal twins can provide some very interesting possibilities.
Fraternal twins are actually more common than identical twins, accounting for 23 out of 1,000 births, whereas identical twins occur three or four times in 1,000. Moreover, they run in families; fraternal twins are more likely to become parents to fraternal twins than the general population because they carry certain genes that increase this propensity.
Whereas it may make sense artistically for identical twins to be dressed up in the same outfits, giving fraternal twins offers a very obvious reason to put them in different or even contrasting outfits. This may be even truer if they are a boy and girl, (which as two separate conceptions is a 50/50 possibility) as the difference will be greater still.
The age at which the twins are photographed may be a factor in how much you want to emphasise these differences, as the contrast in appearance will be greater the older they get; a picture taken at two months will be very different from one taken at two years.
A further complicating factor can be that you may have other children, which may mean you add at least one older or younger sibling to the image. That could mean having all three in distinctive outfits to emphasise their individuality.
Besides these considerations, you should not forget all the remaining options and possibilities for the pictures, including props, backgrounds, poses and outfits. Whatever you choose, you can end up with a set of wonderful pictures that you and your fraternal twins will love in the years to come.
